Inside This Episode:
Peace and justice, bravery and hope.
Peace and justice, bravery and hope.
Clap your hands up and down, up and down.
Say with me -
*Peace and justice, bravery and hope
Raise your hands to the sky cause freedom flies!
Wave your hands up high, high, high!
*Peace and justice, bravery and hope
Put your hands down low cause courage grows!
Wave your hands down low, low, low!
I was inspired to write the following song after I read the book:
They Built Me for Freedom, the story of Juneteenth and Houston's Emancipation Park by Tanya Duncan Ellis and illustrated by Janine Mohamed, published by HarperCollins Children's.
I am a park.
I'm a freedom park where everyone is smiling.
And I have a sign, a very big sign.
I'm a freedom park where everyone is smiling.
I am a park.
I'm a freedom park where everyone is smiling.
And I have a sign, a very big sign.
I'm a freedom park where everyone is smiling.
And on this sign, there is a word, a very long word.
on a very big sign i'm a freedom park where everyone is smiling and on this sign
there is a word a very long word on a very big sign i'm a freedom park
where everyone is smiling emancipation is the very long word on a very big sign i'm
(00:04:26):
a freedom park where everyone is smiling emancipation is a very long word on a very
big sign
(00:04:43):
I'm a freedom park where everyone is smiling.
Emancipation is a very long word on a very big sign.
(00:05:01):
I'm a freedom park where everyone is smiling.
Emancipation, Emancipation, I'm Emancipation Park, where everyone is smiling.
(00:05:41):
Get on board, little children.
Get on board, little children.
Get on board, little children.
There's room for many a more.
Sing with me.
Let us clap together.
Let us clap together.
Let us clap together.
There's room for many a more.
Let's take a train ride together.
(00:06:26):
Make your arms go round and round like the wheels on the train.
(00:06:32):
Clackety clack.
(00:06:34):
Clackety-clack, the train goes around the railroad track.
(00:06:40):
Engine in the front, caboose in the back.
(00:06:44):
Clackety-clack, clackety-clack, the train goes around the railroad track.
(00:06:52):
Show me those wheels going round and round.
(00:06:55):
The wheels on the train go clackety-clack, clackety-clack.
(00:07:01):
Clackety clack, the wheels on the train go clackety clack.
(00:07:07):
Town after town, the whistle on the train goes toot, toot, toot.
(00:07:14):
